The meeting was attended by Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin, the developer of the Baekhyeon MICE urban development project, the advisory panel for the railway project, and experts conducting the study. They reviewed the progress of the new station initiative and discussed key issues.
This study is a pre-feasibility assessment to examine the possibility of establishing a new station on the Shinbundang Line, between Pangyo Station and Jeongja Station, passing through the site of the Baekhyeon MICE urban development project. The study began in November of last year and will continue for one year until November of this year.
During the interim report meeting, participants shared findings to date, including the proposed location and technical feasibility of the new station, traffic demand forecasts, and research on international case studies. They also gathered feedback from relevant agencies and experts.
Mayor Shin Sangjin emphasized, "The establishment of Baekhyeon MICE Station on the Shinbundang Line is essential for the successful implementation of the Baekhyeon MICE urban development project," and urged, "Please thoroughly review the technical stability and economic feasibility until the final report meeting, so that we can deliver transportation infrastructure that citizens can truly experience."
Seongnam City plans to complete the study by November. If feasibility is confirmed, the city will accelerate the process of establishing the new station in consultation with relevant agencies.
