Busan Gijang County to Provide "Bathing Vouchers" for Seniors Aged 75 and Older Starting in July

Electronic Voucher Card Provided, 42,000 Won Per Quarter

Busan Gijang County (County Governor Jung Jongbok) will officially launch the "Elderly Bathing Voucher Support Project" in July as a welfare policy to support the hygiene and health management of local seniors.

This project is a practical, community-based welfare measure implemented at the local government level to improve the quality of life for the elderly population and address welfare blind spots. It targets seniors aged 75 or older (born on or before June 30, 1950) who are registered residents of Gijang County.

The county will provide the "Bathing Voucher" in the form of an electronic voucher card, which will be credited with 42,000 won every quarter. The issued card can only be used at designated bathing facilities within Gijang County. The same amount will be automatically recharged each quarter, and users can use the card without any additional procedures.

Applications can be submitted starting July 7 at the local Eup or Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers according to the applicant's registered address. Applicants must bring their ID when applying in person. For family members applying on behalf of a senior, an ID, personal seal, and a certificate of family relationship must be submitted together.

The county explained that residents of social welfare facilities, long-term inpatients, and those receiving similar support from other institutions are excluded from eligibility, as a measure to prevent duplicate welfare benefits.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "Hygiene is fundamental and the starting point of health management," adding, "We hope this policy will serve as a catalyst not only for providing bathing vouchers but also for revitalizing the lives of seniors and fostering a healthy local welfare environment."

Previously, Gijang County has promoted welfare policies for the elderly such as customized dietary support and longevity photo support projects. With this new bathing voucher project, the county aims to further enhance the tangible welfare experienced by local seniors.
