Changwon Special City Makes All-Out Efforts to Prevent Accidents at Gwangam Beach and Other Sites

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province is making every effort to prevent water-related accidents during the summer heat, including conducting preemptive on-site inspections for water safety.

Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, is conducting a safety inspection at Gwangam Beach.

The inspection conducted on June 24 was led by Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, who personally visited Gwangam Beach and the Georak Forest area in Masanhappo-gu, an inland water recreation site.

The inspection covered the installation status of water safety facilities, the deployment and working conditions of safety personnel, and the identification and management of potential hazards around the facilities. The overall safety conditions were thoroughly checked to ensure that citizens can enjoy water activities with peace of mind.

There are six designated inland water recreation management areas within Changwon, and the city plans to deploy 20 safety management personnel to these sites to ensure thorough accident prevention.

In particular, at Gwangam Beach, the number of visitors has increased even before the official opening due to the early heat. In response, since June 9, the city has strengthened safety management by deploying safety personnel and on-site situation staff.

Acting Mayor Jang stated, "As this summer's heatwave is expected to last for an extended period, we will make every effort to prevent water-related accidents," and added, "We will continue thorough inspections and management of water recreation areas so that citizens can enjoy a healthy and safe summer vacation."
