Kim Kyunghee: "Comprehensive Support System for Agricultural Product Processing Startups Established"

The 'Shared Traditional Food Processing Center,' a project promoted by Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province as part of its eighth popularly elected administration's pledges, has been completed and is now beginning operations.

On June 24, Icheon City announced that it had completed the Shared Traditional Food Processing Center and held a completion ceremony attended by Mayor Kim Kyunghee, leaders of agricultural organizations, and local residents.

The purpose of establishing the center was to install a shared manufacturing facility for farmers, aiming to promote agricultural product consumption and increase farmers' income. The center is advantageous because it reduces redundant investments by individual farms and enables unified treatment and centralized management of water pollution sources that may arise from production. The project received a total investment of 1.4 billion won, including funds from the Hangang River Basin Management Fund.

The center was built as a single-story building with a total area of 399 square meters within the 'Southern Icheon Science Farming Complex' in Janghowon-eup. It is equipped with three agricultural product processing rooms, a shared office, and a management office.

The center, in connection with the Agricultural Product Comprehensive Processing Center, will provide systematic and continuous support for farmers wishing to start agricultural product processing businesses, from basic theoretical education to entrepreneurship and independent operation.

Mayor Kim stated, "With the completion of this center, we have established a comprehensive support system for starting agricultural product processing businesses," and added, "We will continue to discover and support a variety of projects that meet the needs of farmers in the future."
