Achievements in TPC and Hard Carbon Anode Material Development
Aekyung Chemical has begun strengthening its research and development (R&D) efforts to prepare for the future business environment and to secure new growth engines.
Aekyung Chemical pursues an “organic R&D” system that works closely with the field. This organic approach to R&D aims to produce customized products and provide customer-centric solutions. The company gathers research and development ideas from the sales field and enhances the feasibility and effectiveness of its technologies by reducing trial and error through collaboration between the production site and the research lab.
The two main pillars expected to drive Aekyung Chemical’s future?TPC, a core aramid material, and hard carbon anode material?have also achieved results thanks to the company’s investment in R&D. In fact, for the TPC project, a small-scale demo plant was established at the factory to allow researchers to directly observe the production site. The researchers maintained close communication and incorporated the opinions of production experts. During the development of hard carbon anode materials, researchers frequently traveled between the laboratory and the Jeonju plant to coordinate the production process. This was done to minimize the time required for research and development to be commercialized.
Aekyung Chemical is also focusing on enhancing the expertise of its researchers to strengthen its R&D competitiveness. The “IDEA Explorer” project group within the research center plays a key role in discovering new R&D items. Researchers independently make decisions throughout all stages, including topic selection, crew recruitment, activities, and presentations, while the company fully respects their opinions and supports their activities. In addition, the regularly held item technology exchange meetings serve as a venue for learning about future technologies and sharing information, a link for inter-team collaboration, and a catalyst for creating research and development synergy.
