Wonsando Natural Recreation Forest in Boryeong to Begin Trial Operation in October: "Stunning Coastal Views Await" Wonsando Natural Recreation Forest, Boryeong, Chungnam. /Chungnam Province

The Boryeong Office of the Chungnam Forest Resources Research Institute announced on June 25 that the Wonsando Natural Recreation Forest will begin temporary operations in October.

The Wonsando Natural Recreation Forest is being developed with an investment of 15.365 billion won in a 28.4-hectare forest near the Boryeong Undersea Tunnel in Wonsando-ri, Ocheon-myeon, Boryeong City.

The core facility of the recreation forest, the accommodation district, recently completed construction, one year after breaking ground in June last year.

The accommodation district consists of a total of 11 buildings: five forest houses for six or four people, four cabin houses for two to three people, and support facilities.

The overnight rates are very affordable, ranging from 39,000 to 75,000 won during the off-season and from 65,000 to 134,000 won during the peak season.

Each accommodation facility will undergo a two-month trial operation starting in October to address any shortcomings, and will begin accepting guests by lottery when the forest officially opens in January next year.

The Boryeong Office completed the first phase of the project at the end of last year, including a visitor information center, parking lot, and walking trails. The third phase, the camping district, is currently being designed and will include camping decks and personal hygiene complex facilities.

Director Ahn Kyuwon said, "As the first coastal-view recreation forest operated by a local government, the Wonsando Natural Recreation Forest, located in an optimal natural environment, has finally completed its core facilities. We will prioritize visitor safety and convenience in all construction until the official opening, and strive to provide the best forest welfare services when we open next year."
