Discussion on On-Site Application of AI
The Korea Iron & Steel Association announced on the 25th that it held the "2025 First Steel-AI Safety Environment Council" in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where participants discussed ways to apply smart safety technologies in the steel industry.

The event, held the previous day, was attended by around 40 people from 18 organizations, including major steelmakers such as POSCO Holdings, Hyundai Steel, Dongkuk Steel, SeAH Besteel, and Daehan Steel, as well as ICT companies and research institutes.
During the expert presentations, participants shared the latest technology application cases, including digital twin-based process safety management, AI predictive maintenance, and smart personal protective equipment.
Steel companies introduced their own smart safety initiatives, such as AI-based equipment automation, the introduction of flame-resistant clothing, and valve safety management based on elastic wave detection.
Kang Sungwook, Executive Director of the Korea Iron & Steel Association, stated, "Transitioning to AI-based predictive and preventive safety management is an essential task," and added, "We will continue to expand support for establishing smart safety systems."
