Seongnam City Offers Consulting Support for Restaurant Hygiene Grading System, Recruiting 60 Establishments

Creating a Dining Environment Where Consumers Can Feel Safe

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that it will recruit 60 food service establishments wishing to newly participate in the restaurant hygiene grading system and will provide consulting and cleaning support.

Seongnam City Offers Consulting Support for Restaurant Hygiene Grading System, Recruiting 60 Establishments 'Hygiene Grade "Excellent" Designation Plaque (3 Stars Displayed). Provided by Seongnam City'

The restaurant hygiene grading system is a certification program by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety that evaluates hygiene conditions and assigns one of three grades ("Excellent," "Very Good," "Good") based on the score.

Once designated, establishments receive a hygiene grade certificate and plaque valid for three years, their online information is displayed on delivery apps, and they are exempt from on-site inspections for three years.

Consulting to prepare for the hygiene grading system evaluation is conducted one-on-one by an expert in food hygiene, who visits each establishment three times.

The consulting aims to improve business owners' understanding of the grading criteria and provides customized hygiene management advice after mock evaluations for each establishment.

Support is also provided for cleaning kitchen facilities such as hoods and ventilators, as well as floors and walls inside the establishment, to help prepare for the evaluation.

To this end, up to 600,000 won of the estimated cost will be covered for cleaning expenses, while any excess cost and waste disposal fees must be paid by the establishment.

Eligible applicants are general restaurants, snack bars, and bakeries located in the Seongnam area.

Applications can be submitted in person to the Hygiene Policy Division on the 5th floor of Seongnam City Hall or sent via email (dfeunjin@korea.kr) along with the required documents, including the application form, which can be found on the Seongnam City Hall website under "Notices," by July 4, the end of the application period.

A Seongnam City official stated, "Through this project, we aim to expand the participation of small restaurants in the hygiene grading system and create a dining environment where consumers can feel safe."
