This visit marks the second exchange following the one in 2024, as part of ongoing cooperation between Yeoju City and the LA Korean Association. The program provided young people from both regions with opportunities to directly experience each country’s traditional and modern cultures.
The LA Korean Association youth delegation participated in classes and school lunch experiences at Yeoju Jayoung Agricultural High School, gaining insight into the Korean education system. They also enjoyed vibrant water sports activities at the Yeoju City Water Center.
Additionally, the group boarded a Hwangpo sailboat to appreciate the beautiful scenery of the Namhan River and crossed the suspension bridge, creating unforgettable memories. At the Yeoju Rural Theme Park, they experienced rural life by harvesting potatoes and picking tomatoes. Their visit to Silleuksa, a thousand-year-old Buddhist temple, deepened their understanding of Korean Buddhist culture and history. They also toured the Yeoju City CCTV Control Center, where they observed the city’s advanced urban safety system firsthand.
Notably, during the program, seven Yeoju youths who had visited LA in February participated and reunited with the LA Korean Association youths, strengthening their friendships. The group also enjoyed interacting with animals at Banryeomaru Theme Park and were captivated by the charm of Korean performing arts while watching the musical 'Lahehest' at Sejong Gugakdang.
On the morning of June 22, the LA Korean Association youth delegation concluded their activities in Yeoju and moved on to their next destination, Jeonju. Lee Choongwoo, Mayor of Yeoju, stated, "Through this visit, LA Korean youths were able to directly experience Korea’s culture, history, and various aspects of modern society, further solidifying their identity as Koreans."
He added, "Yeoju City will continue to contribute to strengthening the global competencies of youths in both cities through ongoing exchanges with the LA Korean Association."
