On June 24, the Korea Petroleum Management Service signed an "Integrity and Human Rights Practice Agreement" together with the Korea Gas Station Association, the Korea Petroleum Distribution Association, and the Korea Petroleum General Sales Association.
This agreement was established to promote a culture of integrity and respect for human rights among stakeholders in the petroleum market. Representatives from the four organizations agreed to work toward building a voluntary and cooperative system between the public and private sectors.
Participants discussed several topics on this day, including the establishment of a corruption risk detection system, the creation of a response system for human rights violations, and strategies to spread a culture of integrity and respect for human rights. They also decided to develop concrete action plans, such as discovering effective cooperation models, conducting joint campaigns, and promoting practical agreements.
Choi Chunsik, President of the Korea Petroleum Management Service, stated, "Through this agreement, public institutions and the private sector will have an opportunity to redefine the foundation for mutual growth and cooperation in the energy industry, centered on the values of integrity and human rights." He added, "We will also provide institutional support to ensure the implementation of the selected joint initiatives."
