The Yeosu City Hall Workplace Sports Club Yacht Team achieved outstanding results by winning two gold medals at the 37th Presidential National City and Province Yacht Competition held from the 18th to the 22nd in Boryeong, Chungnam.


This competition served as the second national team selection trial for this year. Athletes who also pass the 23rd Chief of Naval Operations National Yacht Competition scheduled for September will be selected as national team members and secure the right to compete at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.


On the day of the event, athletes Kim Changju and Lee Kyungjin competed in the mixed two-person 470 class, overwhelming the competition with stable teamwork and experience to win another gold medal following their victory at the first national team selection trial. Athlete Kang Hyeongjung also secured first place in the men's IQ-Foil class with excellent race management, bringing the team its second gold medal.


Jin Hongcheol, coach of the Yeosu City Hall Yacht Team, stated, "The active support from Yeosu City and the athletes' consistent efforts are creating synergy."


A Yeosu City official said, "We commend the athletes who proved their top-level skills at this national competition and will develop support programs to help them achieve good results on the international stage as well."
