Officials from Cittaslow International, the International Slow City Federation of Italy, officially visited Damyang, the first certified Slow City in Asia, on the 23rd. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen exchange and cooperation between Slow Cities and to share examples of Damyang County's sustainable slow tourism policies.

Since being designated as the first Slow City in Asia in 2007, the county has continuously strived for sustainable development by harmonizing modern civilization with local traditions and culture. As a result, in 2019, the entire county received international certification, and to date, Damyang has been recertified four times, establishing itself as a world-renowned Slow City.

On this day, a delegation of seven people, including officials and representatives from the Cittaslow International Secretariat, visited Damyang County Office, where they exchanged views with the governor on the philosophy and operational cases of Damyang Slow City. There was also significant interest in the symbolism of Damyang as the first Slow City in Asia and in the efforts made so far.

Afterward, the delegation visited Juknokwon, a representative natural landscape of Damyang that embodies the spirit of Slow City, as well as Changpyeong Samjinae Village, where tradition and the wisdom of life are alive, to directly experience the charm of Damyang Slow City.

On the 24th, Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I hope this visit will serve as a stepping stone for Damyang to become a global hub for slow tourism," and added, "As a hub city for slow tourism, we will strengthen our ties with the international network and continue to pursue sustainable development."
