"Strengthening Emergency Medical Response Capabilities"
At the 331st regular session of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, the full amendment ordinance for the "Ordinance on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Education in Gwangju Seo-gu," proposed by Assemblyman Oh Kwangrok (representing Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, and Dongcheon-dong), was passed as originally drafted by the relevant standing committee.

According to Assemblyman Oh on June 24, this ordinance was revised to strengthen emergency medical response capabilities and protect the lives and safety of residents by systematically supporting education on CPR and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), as well as the distribution and management of AEDs, in response to the growing importance of rapid action during emergencies such as cardiac arrest.
The main points of the amendment include: ▲ stipulating the establishment and implementation of annual education on emergency measures such as CPR and plans for the installation and management of AEDs; ▲ specifying the education recipients for emergency response procedures in emergencies; ▲ providing a legal basis for distinguishing between mandatory and recommended AED installation sites, allowing for installations that reflect actual conditions.
Assemblyman Oh stated, "The use of CPR and automated external defibrillators in critical situations such as cardiac arrest plays a decisive role in saving lives," and added, "Through this ordinance revision, I hope Seo-gu will establish a more systematic emergency medical support system and lay the foundation to better protect the lives and safety of its residents."
