Yangsan City Launches Special Crackdown on Illegal Activities in Forests During Summer Season

Crackdown on Illegal Facility Installations and Unauthorized Cooking
Intensive Enforcement Until August 31

Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province will conduct a special crackdown on illegal activities in forests during the summer vacation season.

The special enforcement period will run for two months, from July 1 to August 31. The city plans to operate joint inspection teams with the province and city-county governments, as well as its own city-county inspection teams in parallel.

The crackdown will target areas where illegal activities have frequently occurred, such as around valleys within forests, focusing on acts such as illegal dumping of garbage and waste, and unauthorized cooking. The main areas of enforcement include dumping of garbage and waste in forests, installation of illegal facilities in forests, illegal damage to standing trees, and unauthorized excavation or collection.

Additionally, the city plans to use drones to monitor illegal activities occurring on hiking trails and in high-altitude areas, thereby addressing blind spots in enforcement.

If illegal activities are detected in forests, the city will impose fines in accordance with the Forest Protection Act and other relevant laws. Preventive publicity activities will also be carried out to help prevent illegal activities in forests during the summer season.

Kim Cheolhwan, head of the Forest Division, stated, "As we enter the full summer vacation season, I ask for the interest and cooperation of all citizens so that everyone can enjoy clean and beautiful forests."
