Open Until August 31... Free Admission for Children of Elementary School Age and Younger
Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province will open the 'Children's Foot Water Play Area' in Jangsu Nuri Park on the 1st of next month to coincide with the vacation and holiday season.
According to the county on the 24th, the Jangsu Nuri Park Foot Water Play Area first opened in 2023. Designed to resemble the world of Minecraft, as if it were brought directly from the game, the play area features ankle-deep water that is safe for children to enjoy. The facility stimulates children's imagination with its colorful design and various block-shaped structures.
Jangsu County will open the 'Children's Foot Water Play Area' in Jangsu Nuri Park on the 1st of next month to coincide with the vacation and holiday season.
As a result, the area has become crowded not only with local residents but also with family tourists from outside the county. It has earned the nickname 'Children's Paradise' and has established itself as a major attraction in the county.
The Nuri Park Foot Water Play Area will operate from July 1 to August 31, with three daily sessions: the first session from 10:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., the second session from 1:00 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., and the third session from 3:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. Every Monday is a regular holiday, and operations will be suspended in the event of inclement weather to prevent safety accidents.
For safety, the county will limit the number of users per session to 150 people. Based on residents' feedback, the county will allocate 50 spots per session to local residents and 100 spots to non-residents.
Admission is free, and any child of elementary school age or younger can use the facility. However, the Foot Water Play Area operates on a reservation-only basis. Reservations must be made through the county office website starting 10 days prior to the desired date of use.
Notably, this year, starting July 28, the Nuri Park Foot Water Play Area will expand to four sessions per day. The fourth session, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will allow entry on a first-come, first-served basis without prior reservation. This is expected to help disperse visitors who typically crowd the facility during the day and to promote the park’s nighttime scenery.
Choi Hunsik, the county governor, said, "We have conducted various safety inspections of the facility in anticipation of many visitors coming to Jangsu Nuri Park to escape the summer heat this year. I hope many families will visit Nuri Park, which stimulates children's imagination and curiosity as a 'Children's Paradise,' and create cool and precious memories."
Meanwhile, in addition to the Foot Water Play Area, the county will operate the ground fountain in 40-minute intervals followed by 20-minute breaks between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The children's swimming pool, which is open to elementary school children, will be available free of charge daily from July 28 to August 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
