President Lee Jaemyung expressed his condolences on the passing of former National Assembly member Yoo Seongyeop.
On June 24, President Lee stated, "I offer my condolences on the passing of a long-time comrade," in response to the news of Yoo's death.
President Lee said, "I express my deep sorrow and condolences upon hearing of the passing of former lawmaker Yoo Seongyeop, who devoted his life to his region and country as a public servant, administrator, and politician. The dedication and passion of the late Yoo, who worked for the future of our nation until his final moments, will live on forever in all our hearts."
He continued, "I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, and once again, I respectfully pray for the late Yoo's peace and eternal rest."
Former lawmaker Yoo served in the 18th, 19th, and 20th National Assembly. At the end of May, while campaigning for the presidential election in Jinan-gun, North Jeolla Province, he collapsed due to a stroke and passed away on this day after battling his illness.
