"Moves Even More Precisely"... Rainbow Robotics Unveils New Technologies for Mobile Dual-Arm Robot

Mecanum Wheel System and Development Kit
Precise Movements Even in Confined Spaces
Software Compatible with AI Algorithm Integration

Rainbow Robotics, a company specializing in robot platforms, has unveiled two new technologies applied to its next-generation mobile dual-arm robot, the RB-Y1.

According to Rainbow Robotics on June 24, the newly announced technologies are: ▲ the "Mecanum Wheel System," which offers exceptional mobility even in confined spaces, and ▲ the "RB-Y1 Integrated Software Development Kit (SDK)," which can be flexibly linked with various options.

The Mecanum Wheel System is designed so that the wheels themselves can move omnidirectionally, enabling the RB-Y1 to achieve more precise movements even in complex and restricted indoor environments. In particular, improved flexibility in movement paths and a reduced turning radius enhance its usability in a wide range of fields, including logistics, research, and services.

The simultaneously unveiled RB-Y1 Integrated Software Development Kit is designed to easily connect various external modules such as IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging sensor), and grippers (robotic hands). Users can customize the kit according to their research objectives, and it provides high scalability and convenience when applying and testing AI algorithms.

The RB-Y1 mobile dual-arm robot from Rainbow Robotics is a research and development platform designed with dual arms, each featuring seven degrees of freedom, a single-leg structure with six degrees of freedom, and a wheel-based mobile platform. Since its first unveiling in March last year, it has received pre-orders from leading universities around the world, including MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), UC Berkeley, University of Washington, and Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as from global companies in various fields. It is now being actively adopted in real research projects.

These new technologies were first introduced last month at "ICRA 2025," the world's largest robotics conference, held in Atlanta, USA.

Heo Jeongwoo, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Rainbow Robotics, stated, "The RB-Y1 is an optimized robot platform for AI researchers and developers worldwide, allowing them to flexibly integrate their own AI technologies. With these newly unveiled technologies, we will further solidify our position as a technology leader in the global mobile dual-arm robot market."
