Naju City in South Jeolla Province has taken a significant step toward entering the European market by signing an export agreement for agricultural and marine food products worth 1 million dollars with a local distributor in France.

This agreement, which was held in conjunction with a local promotional event, is meaningful in that it establishes a distribution base for Naju’s high-quality agricultural and marine food products in the European market and lays the groundwork for continuous export expansion.

On the 23rd (local time), Naju City announced that it had signed an export agreement for agricultural and marine food products with ACE FOOD SAS, a local distributor, at the Ace Mart Louvre branch in Paris, France.

ACE FOOD SAS, the company that signed the export agreement, is a Korean food specialist distributor that directly operates five Ace Mart stores in Paris. The company also distributes Korean food products to Korean restaurants in downtown Paris and Asian grocery stores throughout France.

The event was attended by Byungtae Yoon, mayor of Naju City; Sanghyo Lee, CEO of Ace Food; Kicheol Kim, head of the Jeollanam-do Europe Office; and Sanghee Nam, head of the Paris branch of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), among other key figures. They pledged mutual cooperation to expand the export of Naju’s agricultural and marine food products.

During the promotional event held alongside the signing ceremony, a variety of high-quality agricultural and marine food products were showcased, including pears, pear juice, rice, gim (seaweed), mixed grains, nurungji (scorched rice), nurungji chips, fruit chips, and konjac jelly.

In particular, the tasting of Naju pears received an enthusiastic response for their crisp texture and high sugar content. The event also provided an opportunity to engage with local consumers by offering samples of excellent products such as pear juice and nurungji chips made from Naju rice, allowing the competitiveness of the products and market response to be assessed.

Through this event, Naju City promoted the excellence of its agricultural and marine food products, gauged consumer response and market potential, and plans to establish a full-scale export expansion strategy by holding a second local promotional event in the second half of the year, focusing on products that received a strong response.

Byungtae Yoon, mayor of Naju City, stated, "This export agreement will serve as a stepping stone for entering the European market, with France at its center," adding, "We will do our utmost to continuously pioneer overseas markets for Naju’s agricultural and marine food products and to secure a stable export base."

Meanwhile, since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Naju City has signed export agreements totaling 57.6 billion won with eight countries, including the United States, Australia, and France, thereby expanding the global reach of its local agricultural and marine food products.
