Provided by Dongdaemun District.

This award recognizes the Dongdaemun District Public Health Center for its successful establishment of an integrated health management system in 2024. The center was highly evaluated for identifying new beneficiaries among individuals with physical and brain disabilities, strengthening connections with local resources, and effectively operating a rehabilitation school for the disabled.

In particular, the rehabilitation school for the disabled operates on a semester basis, recruiting new participants each quarter and offering a variety of classes such as rehabilitation exercises, health management education, assistive device usage training, and traditional medicine cooking experiences. These programs provide practical support for the independence and health improvement of people with disabilities. The operation of the rehabilitation school was also recognized as an exemplary case of integrated health and welfare management for the disabled.

In 2023, the district also became the first in the country to establish a non-face-to-face rehabilitation exercise system using robotic rehabilitation devices for the disabled. As a result, it received the Excellence Award for the Disabled Health Management Project from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as well as the Encouragement Award at the "Public Procurement Best Practices Contest" hosted by the Public Procurement Service.

Dongdaemun District stated, "Being selected as an excellent institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for two consecutive years is a valuable achievement resulting from our district's continuous efforts and the dedication of our on-site staff," and added, "We will continue to expand practical policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities can enjoy healthier and more dignified lives in the local community."
