Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok Receives Three Defense Auditors from Board of Audit and Inspection

An auditor from the Board of Audit and Inspection has joined the special investigation team led by Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok, which is investigating the December 3 Martial Law Incident.

According to a press release from the special investigation team on the 23rd, three auditors from the Board of Audit and Inspection, all with extensive experience in the defense sector, have recently been dispatched to the team. This is the first time that staff from the Board of Audit and Inspection have been dispatched to any of the three major special investigation teams: the Martial Law, Kim Keonhee, and Private Chae cases.

With the addition of auditors with significant experience in the defense sector, a comprehensive investigation into alleged misconduct among the military leadership is expected.

Special Prosecutor Cho was appointed as a member of the Board of Audit and Inspection in 2021 and served for four years. In January of this year, during the Yoon Sukyeol administration, he served as acting chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection and instructed a review of the audit results related to allegations concerning the official residence of former President Yoon and his spouse.
