Kim Dongyeon Hosts Luncheon for Veterans Organization Leaders: "Meaningful News to Be Shared on This Year's Liberation Day"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim expressed his gratitude and respect to the heads of veterans organizations on June 23, in commemoration of June as the Month of Patriots and Veterans.

On this day, Governor Kim invited the heads of 13 provincial veterans organizations to a luncheon meeting at Dodamso (the former governor's residence) in Paldal-gu, Suwon. He stated, "There are about 200,000 veterans' families in Gyeonggi Province," and emphasized, "It is extremely important to set history straight and to show respect, honor, and courtesy to veterans' families. Gyeonggi Province is making every effort to do its best in this regard."

He continued, "Since I took office, we have raised the honor allowance for war veterans from 260,000 won to 600,000 won, and for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have supported overseas pilgrimage programs to historic sites for veterans’ organizations." He added, "The National Yeoncheon Memorial Park is scheduled for completion in 2027, and I believe this will help enhance the convenience and status of veterans' families, especially those in Gyeonggi Province."

He also said, "There were various actions in the previous administration that went against setting history straight, so Gyeonggi Province has made significant efforts to move forward in the right direction." He continued, "Last year, we announced plans to establish the Gyeonggi Province Independence Hall, and I believe we will be able to share meaningful news and good updates with the residents on Liberation Day."
