With this selection, the city will receive up to 80 million won in project funding over three years to promote a variety of startup activation initiatives, including the expansion of startup vision and branding, capacity building, and growth acceleration. In addition, the city plans to strengthen the local startup infrastructure by connecting with the startup support network of the Gyeonggi Business and Science Accelerator, and to operate various programs that encourage collaboration and growth among startups.
The Gwangmyeong City Startup Support Center is a six-story facility located in Soha-dong, Gwangmyeong City. The 4th to 6th floors of the center are equipped with a range of startup support spaces, including shared and independent offices, meeting rooms, a conference room, partner office rooms, seminar rooms, a self-studio, a coworking lounge, and a logistics warehouse.
The city aims to establish a startup ecosystem throughout Gwangmyeong by building four additional startup facilities by 2031: a cultural complex space, a youth startup facility, a POST Startup Support Center, and a Youth Startup Innovation Center.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "This selection is an achievement that recognizes Gwangmyeong City's capabilities in supporting startups," and added, "We will foster startups that drive regional innovation, create quality jobs, and invigorate the local economy."
