"Choose Legal Accommodations for Summer Vacation" Ministry Launches 'Safe Stay' Campaign

Legal Guesthouse Information Provided on the Safe Stay Website

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on June 23 that, together with the Korea Tourism Organization, it will be running the "Safe Stay" campaign until July 23.

Safe Stay is a campaign aimed at preventing safety accidents and consumer damages caused by the use of illegal accommodations during the summer vacation season, and at creating an environment where the public can travel safely. The campaign seeks to promote a culture of using legal accommodations by encouraging the use of the Safe Stay website, which provides information on licensed and legal guesthouses so that consumers can confidently use these facilities.

As part of this campaign, the ministry is collaborating with the YouTube sketch comedy channel "Deep" to produce and distribute video content featuring safe accommodation experiences at officially registered guesthouses. The ministry is also working with the travel channel "Travelholic" to provide a checklist of items to review before booking accommodations during the summer vacation season. In addition, to introduce legal guesthouses suitable for various types of travelers, such as those accompanied by pets or infants, short-form video content will be released in collaboration with the channels "Kim Yanggaengeun Motmallyeo" and "Gounirang Yoona."

From July 9 to 22, the campaign will also be conducted in partnership with major domestic travel platforms "NOL" (formerly Yanolja) and "Yeogi Eottae." Six thousand domestic travelers who pledge to use legal accommodations will receive a 5,000 won discount voucher for stays at domestic guesthouses. The campaign will also provide information on how to verify licensed accommodations, safety equipment standards for accommodations, procedures for reporting illegal accommodations, and safety guidelines to prevent accidents while traveling.

Detailed information about this campaign can be found on the Safe Stay website.

A policy official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "We expect that the Safe Stay campaign will raise awareness about the use of legal guesthouses among tourists," and added, "The ministry will continue to do its best to foster a safe accommodation culture where travelers can feel at ease."
