The Gwangju Institute of Health and Environment announced on June 22 that it will conduct "customized on-site consulting" to provide guidance on water quality management methods and standards for water-play type water facilities in the Gwangju area.

Water-play type water facilities refer to artificial installations such as ground fountains, combination playgrounds, streams, and wall fountains that are open to the public. Operators of these facilities are required to conduct water quality tests at least once every 15 days during the operation period. The test items include pH, turbidity, Escherichia coli, and free residual chlorine.

Among the water-play type water facilities installed and registered in the region, a total of 10 are operated by public institutions and are subject to inspection, while a total of 54 are operated by private institutions and are also subject to inspection.

The Institute will use this consulting to provide guidance on water quality management methods, standards, and tips for water-play type water facilities, and will distribute related leaflets. Any facility operator or manager of a water-play type water facility can apply for on-site consulting. Applications can be submitted to the Water Environment Survey Division of the Gwangju Institute of Health and Environment by June 27.

Jung Hyuncheol, Director of the Gwangju Institute of Health and Environment, said, "We will do our utmost to ensure that citizens can use water-play type water facilities safely by providing proper guidance on water quality management methods through on-site consulting."
