MZ Generation Reels Challenge and Fam Tour
Promoting Joint Tourism between Gwangju and South Jeolla
Gwangju City is launching a unique travel content series titled "Boundary Crossing Travel" connecting Gwangju and South Jeolla Province as part of the "2025 Visit Gwangju Year" initiative, aiming to promote mutual growth and revitalize tourism between the regions.
The city plans to expand its tourism promotion efforts beyond a Gwangju-centric approach by creating a one-night, two-day itinerary that links Gwangju's culture and industry with South Jeolla's natural resources. This itinerary will be developed as a citizen participation content, broadening the scope of tourism marketing.
"Boundary Crossing Travel" will be released sequentially through Gwangju City's comprehensive promotional platform, "Moduui Gwangju." The first video will be a teaser featuring Oh Cheon, the leader of the Gwangju dance team "Bitgoeul Dancers," followed by a total of four episodes released in order.
The first episode, "Emotional Journey MZ Tour: Passion Gwangju VS Healing Damyang," released on June 20, features university students from the MZ generation split into two teams, each exploring Gwangju and Damyang. They create short-form videos in the style of Reels, post them on social networking services (SNS), and hold a citizen participation voting event.
Subsequent episodes will include: ▲ Episode 2 "Generational Empathy - Grandchild Tour" ▲ Episode 3 "Summer Vacation is Carbon Reduction Travel" ▲ Episode 4 "Festival for All," offering content that spans various age groups and interests.
The city, in collaboration with the Gwangju Tourism Organization, will also organize themed familiarization tours (fam tours) targeting MZ generation influencers and solo creators. On July 17-18, a total of 10 participants will be invited for a one-night, two-day program to experience the "Baseball Fan Trip," a baseball-themed tourism product in downtown Gwangju, and a healing program at Damyang Juknokwon. Additionally, the city plans to continue organizing fam tours on various themes such as industry and history in cooperation with neighboring cities and counties in South Jeolla Province.
On June 22, spokesperson Park Gwangseok stated, "'Boundary Crossing Travel' is a project that goes beyond simple tourism promotion to establish a foundation for cooperation between Gwangju and South Jeolla in areas such as culture, industry, and environment." He added, "Through content and fam tours in which citizens can directly participate and enjoy, we will enrich the '2025 Visit Gwangju Year.'"
Meanwhile, the city expects that the "Boundary Crossing Travel" series will simultaneously showcase the attractions of both Gwangju and South Jeolla, providing visitors with a more special and in-depth experience, thereby broadening the horizons of tourism in Gwangju.
