Sharing the Vision and Progress of the "Energy and AI New City" Development
The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Korea recently visited the large-scale new city development site 'Solarsido' in Haenam, Jeollanam-do. This site is an energy and artificial intelligence (AI)-focused new city being developed by BS Hanyang, a subsidiary of BS Group, in cooperation with Jeollanam-do.
According to BS Hanyang on June 22, this visit was part of the annual workshop schedule of the EU Delegation to Korea. More than 20 ambassadors from EU member states participated, including Maria Castillo Fernandez, EU Ambassador to Korea.
The delegation toured Sani Garden and the Garden Museum within Solarsido, and then received a briefing on plans for the AI data center, the renewable energy-based industrial complex, and the residential complex.

Solarsido is being developed as an 'energy self-sufficient new city' based on renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. In particular, a 5.4GW-class solar power complex is being developed nearby, which enables stable electricity supply and is attracting significant interest from both domestic and international companies.
Solarsido has also been selected as a candidate site for Jeollanam-do's 'distributed energy specialized zone,' making it possible in the future to implement a system where electricity is produced and consumed locally. BS Hanyang explained, "Because we can supply abundant renewable energy at a low and stable price, Solarsido is evaluated as the optimal location for establishing AI data centers and achieving RE100 (100% renewable energy)."
Kim Daehan, CEO of Southwest Coast Enterprise City Development, stated, "The visit by the EU Delegation to Korea confirmed that Solarsido is attracting international attention," and added, "We will continue to develop it into a sustainable future city."
