Naver Map releases list of top 100 "bingsu hotspots"
Most saved bingsu place is Sungsimdang in Daejeon
Naver has revealed the top 100 "bingsu hotspots" nationwide that users have saved the most through its map service.
According to industry sources on June 21, Naver Map recently released a list of "bingsu hotspots with the most saves." As of this month, this "saved list" compiles the top 100 bingsu places that Naver Map users have saved as places of interest the most frequently.
The most saved bingsu spot by users was Sungsimdang in Daejeon. Sungsimdang has received high praise for offering high-quality bingsu that rivals hotel bingsu priced in the 100,000 won range. The second spot went to the cafe "Redpipe" in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Alongside Sungsimdang, Leesungdang, a bakery in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province and a leading local bakery, ranked third. Following them were: fourth place, Cafe Daenerys (Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province); fifth, Lafraieflute Seongsu (Seoul); sixth, Cafe Marche (Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province); seventh, 10593 Bagel Coffee House (Suwon, Gyeonggi Province); eighth, Gongangap (Seoul); ninth, Ttujuru Bread Stone Kiln Village (Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province); and tenth, Heuksadang (Paju, Gyeonggi Province).
Last year, Naver Map also received a positive response by compiling a list of restaurants run by chefs from the popular Netflix show "Black and White Chef" in the same way as the bingsu hotspot list. A Naver representative stated, "There is very active usage among map users to create and share their own saved lists in various ways," adding, "When users create and share lists, the recipients also end up using Naver Map, which leads to a strong lock-in effect."
Meanwhile, Naver is introducing a new "Discovery" tab to its map app. "Discovery" is a service that provides information on popular places not only near the user but also nationwide.
The "Discovery" tab, located as the first icon on the bottom left of the Naver Map app, introduces a variety of places based on user location and interests in themed recommendation sections such as: ▲Popular places right now ▲Recommended places based on my activity ▲Popular saved lists ▲Benefits available nearby ▲Hot places nationwide.
Naver has implemented this feature by measuring popularity using various data sources. While the existing Nearby tab only recommended restaurants near the user, the Discovery tab offers information on a wider range of popular places, including restaurants, cultural facilities, and local attractions both nearby and nationwide. In addition, if areas such as Bukchon, Gangneung, Busan, or Jeju become trending topics among users, they are introduced in a "separate regional recommendation section." Regarding "Discovery," Naver explained, "It is an upgraded version of the existing 'Nearby' tab," and added, "It provides information on trending places at the time the user checks."
