Korea Expressway Corporation, led by President Ham Jingyu, has launched a comprehensive digital transformation by integrating cutting-edge digital technologies across the entire expressway industry.
Korea Expressway Corporation held this proclamation ceremony to address the dual challenges of the rapid advancement of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and the aging of highway infrastructure.
The corporation announced on June 21 that it held the "Digital Transformation Together Proclamation Ceremony" at its headquarters on June 18, where it shared a new vision and mid- to long-term strategies with all employees.
This proclamation ceremony was organized to address the dual challenges of the rapid advancement of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and the aging of highway infrastructure. Korea Expressway Corporation made it clear that its goal is to deliver public services that citizens can truly experience through digital-driven business innovation.
During the event, the corporation presented its digital transformation master plan, introduced innovative case studies, delivered a CEO message, and held a proclamation ceremony, followed by an expert seminar. These activities specifically outlined the direction and vision for the corporation’s digital innovation.
President Ham Jingyu stated, "Digital transformation is now a necessity, not a choice," and added, "We will enhance work efficiency through rational decision-making based on AI and data, and realize a smart expressway corporation that provides customized services to the public."
The new vision presented by Korea Expressway Corporation is "A Road That Adds New Value." This is a strategic declaration to transform expressways from simple means of transportation into a value-creating platform combined with digital technology.
The corporation is already achieving results by applying digital technologies in various fields. It is improving policy quality through big data-based optimization of bus-only lane operations and the introduction of a smart work assistant utilizing generative AI.
Additionally, the corporation is accelerating the automation and efficiency of field operations by establishing a "Smart Inspection System" that automates the entire process of bridge inspection and report generation.
Furthermore, Korea Expressway Corporation is proactively expanding related infrastructure and systems to respond to next-generation transportation paradigms such as autonomous vehicles, urban air mobility (UAM), and integrated mobility services (K-MaaS).
Through this digital transformation, the corporation plans to create a smart work environment where technology, personnel, and processes are organically connected, aiming to become a public institution that innovates daily life and transportation for the public.
