Flight and Passenger Ship Operations Disrupted
Due to Landslide Advisories
Due to the influence of a stationary front, heavy rain advisories were issued in various areas of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, with several regions recording accumulated rainfall exceeding 100mm. Along with rain damage, there were continued traffic controls and resident evacuations.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on June 22, as of 11 a.m. the previous day, heavy rain advisories were issued for Gwangju, as well as Naju, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Jangseong, Hwasun, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Mokpo, Jindo, Shinan (excluding Heuksan-myeon), Heuksando, and Hongdo in South Jeolla Province. Since June 20, accumulated rainfall reached 143.2mm in Anmado, Yeonggwang; 120.5mm in Okgwa, Gokseong; 112mm in Bongsan, Damyang; and 110.7mm in Gwangju. There were also periods of intense hourly rainfall, with 47.5mm in Bongsan, Damyang; 42.5mm in Gurye; and 39.1mm in Gwangju.
As the heavy rain continued, landslide advisories were issued for six cities and counties including Damyang, Gokseong, and Jangseong. A total of 79 residents from 55 households in 14 villages evacuated. In Gwangju, there were 44 reports including fallen trees, flooded roads, soil runoff, dislodged manhole covers, and collapsed walls. In South Jeolla Province, there were 18 damage reports, including drainage assistance and fallen trees.

Preventive traffic controls were also implemented in high-risk areas. In Gwangju, access was restricted at a total of 449 locations, including river entrances and exits, stepping stone bridges, and riverside parking lots. In South Jeolla Province, controls were enforced at 8 riverside roads, 21 riverside parking lots, 10 walking trails, and 6 stepping stone bridges.
Access to Mudeungsan in Gwangju and five national parks in South Jeolla Province was restricted, and five passenger ships suspended operations on four routes. Air travel was also disrupted, with five flights delayed at Gwangju Airport and six flights canceled at Yeosu Airport.
