The meeting was organized as part of the effort to have the ASV district designated as a free economic zone. It was attended by Lee Mingeun, Mayor of Ansan, Jung Byungchan, CEO of Hanwha Robotics, and officials from both sides. Hanwha Robotics had previously conveyed its intention to invest in the ASV district to Ansan City in July of last year.

During the meeting, Mayor Lee presented strategies for attracting investment and a vision for industrial revitalization through the designation of the free economic zone. In response, CEO Jung stated, "From the perspective of a robotics company, the ASV district, which features an industry-academia-research cluster and a demand market, is an attractive investment destination," adding, "We will actively consider ways to participate." Both parties agreed to continue discussions on specific investment and cooperation measures in the future.

Meanwhile, Ansan City applied for the designation of the ASV district as a free economic zone in January of this year and passed the feasibility evaluation in February. The review for district designation will take place next month, and the final decision on whether to designate the district will be made by the Free Economic Zone Committee in September.

Mayor Lee stated, "We will foster the Ansan ASV district as a central hub for future industries, like Pangyo, by attracting global companies and establishing international schools, global research institutes (campuses), and mixed-use commercial districts."
