With heavy rain warnings issued for the Seoul metropolitan area, northern inland Gangwon, and the Chungcheongnam-do region, 55 passenger ships have been canceled.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) heavy rain response report as of 5:00 p.m. on June 20, service has been suspended on 42 routes, including Gunsan?Gaeya-do, Mokpo?Hongdo, and Yeosu?Geomun, affecting a total of 55 passenger ships.
In addition, 102 hiking trails in two national parks, including Bukhansan and Hallasan, have been closed. There have been no reported casualties or property damage as of the provisional tally.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety activated Level 1 of the CDSCH at 2:30 p.m. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that the stationary front would move southward, bringing heavy rainfall mainly to the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions through the afternoon of June 21.
