Seocho District Signs Public Art Agreement with Crown Haitai and Seocho Cultural Foundation

Creating an 'Open-Air Gallery'

Seocho District in Seoul signed a business agreement on June 19 with Crown Haitai Confectionery and the Seocho Cultural Foundation to promote local culture and arts, as well as to advance sculpture art and public art.

Seocho District Signs Public Art Agreement with Crown Haitai and Seocho Cultural Foundation

Under the agreement, Seocho District will oversee and provide administrative support for public art exhibitions to vitalize the 'Goteo·Sebit Tourism Special Zone,' which was designated in December of last year. Crown Haitai Art Valley will be responsible for providing and sponsoring sculpture works, while the Seocho Cultural Foundation will handle exhibition planning and operations. The three organizations plan to work together organically to expand opportunities for everyday encounters with art and to help create a culturally rich urban environment.

This agreement was especially promoted based on the success of the 'Wonder Street Exhibition,' which has been held since May 22 in the public pedestrian walkways of the Goteo·Sebit Tourism Special Zone. With the theme 'Adding Wonder to Everyday Life,' this exhibition is part of Crown Haitai Confectionery's public sculpture project, 'Gyeonsaeng Sculpture Exhibition,' and has been well received for transforming ordinary spaces into venues for culture and the arts.

Seocho District plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to turn the entire district, centered on the Goteo·Sebit Tourism Special Zone, into an 'open-air gallery,' thereby further enhancing the area's appeal as a tourist destination.

The signing ceremony was attended by Seocho District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo, Crown Haitai Confectionery Chairman Yoon Youngdal, Seocho Cultural Foundation CEO Kang Eunkyung, local members of the National Assembly and city and district councilors, participating artists, and local residents.

Mayor Jeon Seongsoo stated, "Through this agreement, we plan to make all of Seocho District a city where art flows," adding, "We will spare no effort to provide impressive art experiences to tourists visiting the Goteo·Sebit Tourism Special Zone."
