Gyeongsan City Assigns Honorary Road Names to Three Selected Sections

Gyeongsan City in North Gyeongsang Province has designated honorary road names for the section of Jungang-ro shopping district starting from Gyeongsan Station and the road section of Gyeongsan Public Market.

An honorary road name is not a legal road name, but rather an additional nickname given to a section that already has an official road name, reflecting special meaning or purpose. The use of the honorary road name is valid for five years from the date of designation. The extension or abolition of the period can be reviewed by the Address Information Committee in the future.

Gyeongsan City established a plan to assign honorary road names and collected opinions from the Gyeongsan Public Market Merchants Association and local residents.

As a result, after deliberation by the Gyeongsan City Address Information Committee, honorary road names were assigned to three final sections: Parkridan-gil ("a street where visitors strike it big"), Gilongridan-gil ("a street for vibrant encounters"), and Nuridan-gil ("a street to fully enjoy and experience"). The city announced this on June 19.

Gyeongsan City Mayor Cho Hyunil stated, "With the opening of the Daegyeong Line at the end of last year and the designation of these honorary road names, we expect to attract more tourists to Gyeongsan and help revitalize the local economy. We will continue to listen to the voices of our citizens and pursue various policies that people can truly feel in their daily lives."
