Jeollanam-do Honorary Reporters held a capacity building workshop at the Yeosu Utop Marina Hotel for two days starting on the 19th, pledging to take a more active role in promoting provincial government policies.
The 13th class of Provincial Honorary Reporters, newly launched last year, consists of a total of 138 members: 107 regional reporters and 31 Hyangwoo reporters who are active nationwide. These reporters were selected through an open recruitment process and an evaluation committee, with careful consideration given to region, age, and gender. In particular, the proportion of youth reporters was significantly increased to 22% of the total (31 people).
They are actively working in various parts of the country, with a focus on Jeollanam-do, informing local residents about provincial government policies and reporting from the field for publication in the provincial newsletter (Saetteum) and on the provincial website.
The workshop focused on capacity building education, including the Governor's Award for distinguished honorary reporters, proper writing techniques, and collaboration with generative AI.
One honorary reporter shared, "I have gained confidence in writing articles," adding, "I believe I will be able to write more diverse and enjoyable articles with vivid on-site coverage and high quality."
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated, "Thanks to the active participation and support of honorary reporters who communicate with residents across the country, Jeollanam-do is achieving positive change and development." He continued, "I hope you will continue to take pride and find fulfillment as Jeollanam-do's special messengers, actively promoting the province's outstanding achievements and current issues."
