This agreement was arranged to establish a close and systematic cooperation system between the two organizations for smooth project progress and regional development, ahead of the full-scale implementation of the Northern Campus construction project, which will require a total project cost of 49.3 billion won.
The Gyeonggi Fire School Northern Campus will be built on a site of 212,541 square meters in Baekhak-myeon, Yeoncheon County, with a building area of 6,670 square meters. It will consist of four buildings: a specialized education building, a basic education building, a welfare center, and a resident safety camp. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with completion and opening planned for the second half of 2029.
According to the agreement, the Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters will promote the construction of the Northern Campus for the training of firefighting personnel and safety education. Yeoncheon County will actively support related tasks such as consultations with the Ministry of Agriculture, land acquisition on behalf of the project, and personnel dispatch. In addition, Yeoncheon County will be responsible for the development of infrastructure, such as access roads, within the scope of up to 10% of the total project cost.
Kang Daehoon, head of the Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the firefighting education infrastructure in the northern region and revitalize the local economy," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure the successful implementation of the project through close cooperation with Yeoncheon County."
