On the 17th (local time), overseas nationals in Iran, which is in armed conflict with Israel, are boarding chartered buses to evacuate. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 19, on the morning of the 17th (local time), a chartered bus carrying about 40 Korean nationals and their families who had been staying in Tehran departed by land and arrived in Turkmenistan the previous night. The route itself, excluding rest stops, takes approximately 16 hours by vehicle, but this was an unavoidable measure due to the closure of Iranian airspace. After crossing the Turkmenistan border, they continued on to the capital city, Ashgabat.
To facilitate their smooth evacuation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dispatched a rapid response team to Turkmenistan, led by the head of the Overseas Safety Situation Room.
A ministry official stated, "We are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and will continue to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of Korean nationals residing in the region."
Previously, on the 16th (local time), it was reported that 23 Korean nationals evacuated from Israel to Jordan by land.
On June 17, the government issued a Level 3 travel advisory (recommendation to depart) for all of Iran and parts of Israel. A ministry official strongly urged, "Korean nationals currently residing in Israel and Iran should take into account the heightened travel advisory and promptly depart in accordance with embassy guidance, while exercising particular caution regarding their personal safety." The official also asked, "Korean nationals planning to travel to these regions should cancel or postpone their trips."
