Dongsin University announced on June 19 that three teams from three departments were finally selected for the '2025 University Student Venture Startup Expedition' project hosted by the Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute.

The '2025 University Student Venture Startup Expedition' is a project aimed at enabling university students to develop startup models that can contribute to local community development by discovering and directly implementing startup ideas.

In this project, which selected 20 teams from the province, one team each from the Department of Nursing, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Occupational Therapy at Dongsin University participated, and all were finally selected.

The participating students used their specialized knowledge to consider various issues in the local community and planned and proposed startup ideas to address them. The evaluation process consisted of a first round of document screening and a second round of on-site PPT presentations.

The Dongsin Licorice Research Team from the Department of Nursing planned a startup idea to help solve health problems in the local community using their expertise, and received high marks for both academic competence and practical skills. Each team will experience the entire startup process and strengthen their entrepreneurial capabilities with the support funds provided.

A student from the Department of Nursing at Dongsin University said, "I am pleased to have gained a great opportunity to design and actually realize a startup model that can promote mutual growth with the local community through my field of study."

This project was carried out in collaboration with Dongsin University's mentoring faculty (Professor Choi Yongseong from the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Energy Engineering; Professor Park Jungeun from the Department of Nursing, College of Korean Medicine; Professor Kim Heedong from the Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Health and Welfare), the Startup Activation Center (headed by Professor Jung Kyungkwon), and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group (headed by Professor Choi Hyoseung).

Professor Park Jungeun of the Department of Nursing at Dongsin University said, "We will actively support students so that their ideas can develop into practical solutions for the community, not just remain as simple proposals," and added, "I hope this opportunity will help students gain confidence and experience in entrepreneurship and broaden their career paths."
