According to materials released by the National Policy Planning Committee on this day, Social Division 1 received a work report from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family the previous day and discussed key presidential campaign pledges that should be prioritized by the new administration.
The committee particularly emphasized the need for active review and input to ensure that the perspective of gender equality is reflected in the implementation plans of various policies and pledges, including those related to labor and welfare. During this process, there were also points raised regarding the formal operation of the Gender Equality Committee, which oversees and coordinates the government’s gender equality policies, and the need for improvements.
Regarding at-risk youth, opinions were expressed that proactive consideration and support should be provided for more vulnerable groups, such as individuals with borderline intellectual functioning and persons with disabilities, when implementing support policies. There were also calls for active review and institutional improvements concerning the issue of non-compliance with child support payments for single-parent families.
Additionally, there were suggestions for policies to address the needs of multicultural families and the residency rights of migrant women, as well as requests for measures on how to preserve and commemorate the issue of victims of the Japanese military’s comfort women system.
Chanjin Lee, head of Social Division 1 of the National Policy Planning Committee, stated, "It is important to promptly establish women and family-related policy tasks that the public can truly feel, in line with the governing philosophy of the Jaemyung Lee administration," adding, "We look forward to a responsible approach from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which is under significant public attention."
