Former EXO Member Makes 4.3 Billion Won Selling Feminine Products... His Response to Quality Controversy

“It Is Not Harmful to the Human Body,” Tao Explains

Former EXO member Tao (Huang Zitao) has personally addressed the controversy over the quality of the sanitary pad brand he launched.

On June 17, Tao explained on his social networking service (SNS) Weibo account, "The black dots in question are caused by fibers being carbonized by heat during the nonwoven fabric production process," and added, "They are not harmful substances to the human body."

He further stated, "While the general management standard is 0.5mm, our company applies a stricter quality inspection standard of 0.3mm."

Previously, some consumers posted photos and complaints on SNS, claiming that they had discovered small black dots on sanitary pads from Tao's brand. This led to a wider controversy over the product's quality, with more people pointing out the presence of foreign substances.

Tao stated that any customers who experienced discomfort with the product could exchange it for a new one through the customer service center. He emphasized, "I started this brand with the belief that transparency is quality," and added, "We will fully disclose the inside of our factory and allow anyone to check the production process online."

Tao had previously expressed anger over the issue of recycled sanitary pads in China and announced his entry into the sanitary pad business. At the time, Tao said, "Those who make dirty money with sanitary pads are truly disgusting," expressing his outrage at what he called "dirty profiteering."

The investment in the brand launched by Tao is reported to be 275 million yuan (approximately 53.31425 billion won). The sanitary pad factory operates three production lines, capable of producing 1,200 sanitary pads per minute. The facility is monitored in real time 24 hours a day, and this can be checked via the QR code attached to each sanitary pad.

He also demonstrated confidence in his product by conducting absorption tests comparing his own sanitary pads with other products on the market on his SNS. Tao emphasized, "From acquiring the factory to upgrading the equipment, I have invested hundreds of millions of yuan," and added, "Once this product is released to the market, it will never disappoint you." During a live broadcast last month, about 450,000 boxes were sold in just 30 minutes, generating sales of 22.5 million yuan (approximately 4.3 billion won), indicating the popularity of Tao's brand sanitary pads in China.
