The KOSPI turned bearish during the session, pressured by net selling from foreign investors and institutions.


As of 10:08 a.m. on June 19, the KOSPI was trading at 2,958.24, down 0.47% from the previous day.


By investor type, institutions and foreigners were net sellers, offloading 114.5 billion won and 219.7 billion won respectively, while individuals were net buyers, purchasing 321.7 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and individuals were net buyers, purchasing 157.4 billion won and 92.5 billion won respectively, while foreigners were net sellers, offloading 265.8 billion won.


By sector, more industries were declining than rising. Construction was down 2.01%, securities -2.03%, electricity and gas -1.9%, medical precision -1.34%, transportation equipment -1.18%, electrical and electronics -1.09%, non-metallic minerals -0.99%, manufacturing -0.89%, pharmaceuticals -0.8%, real estate -0.8%, machinery and equipment -0.5%, telecommunications -0.44%, entertainment and culture -0.35%, and transportation and storage -0.4%. On the other hand, IT services were up 3.16%, paper and wood 1.53%, insurance 0.55%, and textiles and apparel 0.36%.


Most of the large-cap stocks by market capitalization were also weak. Samsung Electronics was down 1.17%, SK hynix -1.62%, Samsung Biologics -0.6%, LG Energy Solution -0.68%, Hanwha Aerospace -1.51%, KB Financial Group -0.56%, Kia -0.4%, Doosan Enerbility -2.13%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries -0.7%, and Celltrion -1.17%. In contrast, NAVER was up 4.72%, and Hyundai Motor was slightly higher by 0.24%.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ was also moving in slightly negative territory, trading at 778.59, down 0.16% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners were net sellers, offloading 200 million won and 130.8 billion won respectively, while individuals were net buyers, purchasing 134 billion won.


Among the top stocks by market capitalization, performance was mixed. Alteogen was down 1.14%, Ecopro BM -0.55%, HLB -2.78%, Ecopro -1.08%, and Hugel -0.78%. In contrast, PharmaResearch was up 2.89%, Peptron 6.97%, Classys 0.99%, Ligachem Bio 0.66%, and Lino Industrial 0.2%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate was trading at 1,379.8 won, up 7.5 won from the previous day.
