'Policy Alignment and Administrative Efficiency'... Gwangju Namgu District Undergoes Organizational Restructuring Exterior view of Gwangju Namgu District Office.

On June 18, Gwangju Namgu District Office announced that it had carried out an organizational restructuring to strengthen its integrated care functions, aligning with the new government's policy direction and improving administrative efficiency.

The restructuring maintains the total staff count, but adjusts the existing structure from 6 bureaus, 2 offices, 2 divisions, 29 departments, and 123 teams to 6 bureaus, 2 offices, 2 divisions, 30 departments, and 124 teams.

The Hope Welfare Bureau will be reorganized from 5 departments and 17 teams to 6 departments and 18 teams. In the Hope Welfare Bureau, a new Integrated Care Department and Care Policy Team have been established following the enactment of the Act on Integrated Support for Local Care, including medical and nursing care, which has been in effect since March.

In connection with the new government's presidential campaign pledges, the existing Open Happiness Department will be reorganized as the Democratic Peace and Human Rights Department. The Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Team, previously under the General Affairs Department, will be transferred to the Democratic Peace and Human Rights Department to continue its work. This department will be responsible for promoting inter-Korean exchanges and including the spirit of the 5·18 Democratization Movement in the preamble of the Constitution.

An official from the district office explained, "We have transformed the organization to respond quickly to the new government's policy direction and various administrative demands, without increasing the number of staff."
