Positive Evaluation Up 0.2%p from Last Year
"Communication" Chosen as Best-Performed Area for Second Consecutive Year
Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 18th that, according to the results of a satisfaction survey conducted to mark the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration, 85.1% of Goheung residents evaluated the county government's operations positively.
This survey was conducted over five days from June 6 to 10, targeting 1,010 Goheung residents aged 18 and older, to gauge satisfaction with county government operations.
In response to the question, "Is the 8th popularly elected Goheung County government operating the county well?" 85.1% of respondents gave a positive evaluation, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from last year, indicating a high level of satisfaction with county administration.
By gender, 85.4% of men and 84.8% of women responded positively. By age group, those aged 70 and above showed the highest satisfaction at 92.4%, followed by those in their 60s (87.7%), 40s (78.5%), 30s and younger (75.3%), and 50s (74.2%).
For the area in which the 8th popularly elected Goheung County government performed best, "communication with residents" was cited most frequently for the second consecutive year at 18.0%, followed by "space and aerospace" (14.5%), "resident welfare" (13.3%), and "revitalization of the local economy" (11.4%).
In terms of satisfaction with major county government policies as evaluated by residents, "space and aerospace policies," such as the creation of a space launch vehicle industrial cluster and the commercialization of drone taxi tourism, received the highest rating at 85.8%. This was followed by strengthening competitiveness in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock (82.3%), tourism (80.6%), expansion of residential infrastructure (78.7%), promotion of culture, arts, and sports (78.0%), and resident welfare (77.5%).
The main reasons for the high positive evaluation of county administration included the successful implementation of Goheung's three major future strategic industries?space, drone·UAM, and smart farms?as well as the completion of three major transportation infrastructure projects such as the Gwangju-Goheung Expressway, the space railway, and the expansion and paving of National Route 15 between Goheung and Bongrae. Other contributing factors were achieving $100 million in agricultural and marine product exports for two consecutive years, expanding residential infrastructure such as the creation of regional housing complexes, establishing a comprehensive welfare system that leaves no blind spots, and providing livelihood recovery support funds to all residents, all of which were recognized as efforts to improve the quality of life for residents.
In particular, the county's efforts to actively reflect residents' opinions and encourage their participation in county administration, thereby strengthening communication with residents, were also evaluated as a key reason for the high satisfaction level.
Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "I believe the high level of satisfaction shown by residents for the second consecutive year reflects their recognition of the 8th popularly elected Goheung County government's efforts to prioritize resident unity and happiness as the highest values for regional development." He added, "We will continue to practice responsible administration that actively communicates with residents in all aspects of county government operations, and do our utmost to achieve the vision of '100,000 Goheung residents by 2030' set by the 8th popularly elected administration."
Meanwhile, this survey was commissioned to the professional polling agency Korea Information Research Co., Ltd. and conducted through a combination of landline telephone interviews and automated response methods with 1,010 men and women aged 18 and over residing in Goheung County. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
