Submit your favorite book quote or song lyrics handwritten
This contest is designed to allow foreigners residing in Korea to directly experience the beauty and sentiment of the Korean language through handwriting, and to deepen their understanding of Korean culture.
The application period runs until August 17, and any foreigner living in Korea is eligible to participate.
Participants can submit a handwritten excerpt from a memorable sentence in a book or the lyrics of a favorite Korean song.
To enter, applicants can scan or photograph their handwritten entry and submit it via the Kyobo Handwriting Contest web page. Entries are also accepted via email, mail, or at the Baro Dream counter in Kyobo Book Centre's offline stores.
The application form can be downloaded from the Kyobo Book Centre Handwriting Story web page or obtained at offline stores.
Winning entries will be selected after a review by the Handwriting Culture Promotion Committee. The results will be announced on September 3 on the Kyobo Book Centre website and the campaign page.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 17. The grand prize winner will receive a Kyobo Book Centre gift certificate worth 1 million won and additional prizes, while three runners-up will each receive a gift certificate worth 200,000 won and additional prizes.
A Kyobo Book Centre representative stated, "Handwriting is a means of conveying the heart beyond language," and added, "We hope that through this contest, foreign participants will feel closer to Korean culture and experience the value of handwriting."
