"Expel Seniors Who Disrupted Classes"... CHA University Students Demand Action from School CHA University. CHA University Homepage

Second-year students at CHA University Graduate School of Medicine have demanded the expulsion of their seniors who disrupted classes. They claim that third-year students threatened them, including by sending text messages telling them not to attend classes.

According to CHA University Graduate School of Medicine and related sources on June 17, the second-year students have recently hired a lawyer and decided to file a lawsuit against both the school, for not expelling the seniors, and the seniors themselves. This is the first time since the medical school crisis that junior students have demanded the expulsion of their seniors.

The students also reported the threats to the Ministry of Education, which has since demanded strict action from the university. CHA University Graduate School of Medicine has acknowledged the situation and decided to exclude students who were unable to attend classes due to coercion from seniors or peers from the list of those subject to expulsion.

On May 13, CHA University Graduate School of Medicine announced a notice regarding "students not participating in classes," stating, "If a student has clearly expressed their intention to continue their studies, their absence will be regarded not as an unauthorized absence but as an unavoidable absence due to external force, and they will be excluded from the list of students subject to expulsion."

Meanwhile, Eulji University also recently disciplined two medical students for interfering with the resumption of classes. These students reportedly led efforts to hinder the return to classes by gathering students on the school field and having them declare their intention to participate in classes through a public vote, around the time when the government and universities set the deadline for returning to classes on May 7.

Eulji University stated, "It is true that disciplinary action was taken, but it is difficult to disclose the exact details of the disciplinary measures."
