On June 17, Agoda, a travel platform, announced that it had analyzed user accommodation booking data from January to May of this year and found that Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ranked as the number one “one-night travel destination” in Asia.
Following Kuala Lumpur, Seoul in South Korea, Taipei in Taiwan, Manila in the Philippines, Pattaya in Thailand, Jeju in South Korea, Nagoya in Japan, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Penang in Malaysia, and Surabaya in Indonesia made up the top ten. Kuala Lumpur is an ideal destination for a one-night city trip. Within 24 hours, visitors can fully enjoy a variety of attractions, including the iconic Petronas Tower, vibrant night markets, diverse street food, and shopping experiences.
Ranked second, Seoul is a city densely packed with diverse tourist attractions, shopping districts, and cultural heritage sites. It is regarded as a destination where travelers can make the most of a short trip, thanks to its safe and convenient public transportation infrastructure. Ranked sixth, Jeju is an island where visitors can enjoy not only pristine natural scenery and fresh seafood, but also a wide range of activities such as horseback riding and tangerine picking. Located about an hour by plane from Seoul, Jeju offers optimal conditions for micro travel.
In South Korea, besides Seoul and Jeju, Sokcho, Yeosu, and Jeonju were also named as popular one-night travel destinations. These cities attract travelers with their excellent accessibility, local specialties, beautiful natural landscapes, and rich cultural content. In particular, it was analyzed that demand for visits to Yeosu and Jeonju increased in May due to the Yeosu Turtle Ship Festival and the Jeonju International Film Festival.
