Supplying Social Housing Using Newly Built Rental Units in Collaboration with LH
Three Sites and 156 Units to Be Established Sequentially by 2027
Gwangju Bukgu District announced on June 17 that it will promote a 'social housing development project' for vulnerable groups such as young people and the elderly.
This project is a collaboration between Bukgu District and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). It utilizes newly built lease-purchase agreement rental housing provided by LH as social housing, with the goal of offering affordable rental spaces where residents can stay for the long term.
Bukgu District will sign the 'Gwangju Bukgu-Type Social Housing Management and Operation Agreement' with LH at Bukgu District Office at 2 p.m. on June 18, and the two organizations plan to discuss their respective roles and obligations in the future.
The project aims to supply three sites by 2027. In the first phase, two youth leap housing complexes will be established at 127-3 Yongbong-dong (60 units) and 1372-1 Yongbong-dong (96 units). In addition, one senior care housing complex is planned to be added later.
Bukgu District believes that this project aligns with the government's 'new construction lease-purchase hub' policy direction, and expects that it will contribute to community recovery by revitalizing community activities and improving the residential environment.
