[Law Firm News] Former Daegu High Prosecutor General Jang Youngsu Joins Shin & Kim, Strengthening Criminal Law Team Jang Youngsu, former Daegu High Prosecutor General.

Jang Youngsu, former Daegu High Prosecutor General (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 24th class), has joined the law firm Shin & Kim.


With the successive recruitment of lawyers with prosecutorial backgrounds, Shin & Kim's criminal law group, led by Moon Mooil, former Prosecutor General (18th class), is being evaluated as having been further strengthened.


On the 16th, Shin & Kim announced that it had strengthened its criminal law capabilities by recruiting former High Prosecutor General Jang and Jinwon Park, former Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Anyang Branch, Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (30th class).


Jang, a graduate of Daewon Foreign Language High School in Seoul and Korea University's Department of Law, passed the 34th National Judicial Examination and completed the 24th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute.


He began his career as a prosecutor at the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office in 1998, and subsequently served at the Gimcheon Branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, the Protection Division of the Ministry of Justice, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. In 2007, he was promoted to Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office and worked at the Policy Planning Division of the Ministry of Justice.


Afterward, Jang held various key investigative and planning positions within the prosecution, including Chief of Jecheon Branch at Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Justice, Legal Affairs Advisor at the Ministry of Justice, Head of Criminal Division 3 at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Head of Criminal Division 1 at Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, Director of Inspection Division 1 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Chief of Seobu Branch at Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, and First Deputy Chief Prosecutor at Nambu District Prosecutors' Office.


He was promoted to Chief Prosecutor in 2018 and became Deputy Chief Prosecutor at Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office. He later served as Deputy Chief Prosecutor at Suwon High Prosecutors' Office, Chief Prosecutor at Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office, and Chief Prosecutor at Seobu District Prosecutors' Office. In 2020, he was promoted to Daegu High Prosecutor General, and in 2021, after more than 20 years in the prosecution, he left to start his career as a lawyer.


Jang, who has extensive investigative experience and expertise in a variety of fields including financial and securities crimes, tax, major corporate criminal cases, and intellectual property, founded the law firm Ilwoo and served as its managing partner. He successfully handled numerous cases involving violations of the Capital Markets Act by major domestic conglomerates and listed companies, embezzlement and breach of trust in the course of duty, and major criminal cases related to virtual assets.

Meanwhile, Shin & Kim also recruited Jinwon Park, former Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Anyang Branch, Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, along with former High Prosecutor General Jang.


Park, a graduate of Daewon Foreign Language High School in Seoul and Seoul National University's Department of Law, passed the 30th National Judicial Examination in 1998 and completed the 30th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute.


He was appointed as a prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office in 2001 and served as a prosecutor at the Andong Branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, and Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.


Park later worked as a research officer at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and as a prosecutor at the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office. In 2014, he was seconded to the National Intelligence Service.


He was promoted to Deputy Chief Prosecutor at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in 2015, and subsequently served as Head of the Public Security Division at Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office, Head of the Corporate and Labor Crime Division (Criminal Division 6) at Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, Director of Investigation Information Division 2 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Head of Investigation Division 1 at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and Head of Criminal Division 1 at Daegu District Prosecutors' Office. In 2020, he was promoted to Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Anyang Branch, Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.


After ending his more than 20-year career as a prosecutor in February last year, he began practicing law and joined the law firm Ilwoo, where former High Prosecutor General Jang was managing partner. Leveraging the expertise and know-how he had accumulated over the years, he handled major corporate cases and achieved outstanding results.


During his tenure as a prosecutor, Park held key positions in the Financial Investigation Division, Special Investigation Division, International Affairs Division, and Violent Crimes Division. He has particularly extensive investigative experience and response capabilities in financial crimes, corporate corruption, public security cases, and international crimes.

In addition to these two, Shin & Kim has also focused on building unrivaled manpower in the criminal law field this year by recruiting Jo Jooyeon, former head of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (33rd class); Lee Jungwoo, former deputy chief prosecutor at Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office (33rd class) and former head of legal affairs at SK Gas and SK Discovery; Son Junghyun, former head of the Criminal Division 1 at Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (34th class) and a certified "Blue Belt" expert prosecutor in food safety; Hong Seokgi, former prosecutor at Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office (40th class) and a veteran in special, financial, and tax investigations; and Seok Donghyun, former prosecutor at the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Justice (43rd class) and a certified "Blue Belt" expert prosecutor in environmental matters.
