About 20 Themed Courses to Be Selected and Operated
On June 16, Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province announced plans to develop customized tourism courses utilizing local tourism resources this year, which has been designated both as the "Year of Tourism City Development" and the "Year of Visiting Chungnam."
The county intends to systematize courses that reflect tourists' preferences and current trends, aiming to boost the local economy by encouraging visitors to stay longer.
With the gradual expansion of local tourism infrastructure in recent years, there has been a growing need to move beyond simple listing-type courses and to develop new courses that combine storytelling and hands-on experiences.
In response, the county plans to secure differentiated tourism competitiveness unique to Cheongyang by ensuring connectivity among tourism resources and optimizing visitor routes.
On June 12, the county held a meeting with about 20 tourism experts and related professionals to discuss ways to categorize tourism resources by type and target audience.
During the meeting, participants agreed that theme-based tourism combining Cheongyang's rural experiences, natural ecology, and cultural assets has strong competitive potential.
Additionally, the county will review infrastructure such as accessibility and convenience facilities based on academic research, statistical analysis, and field surveys related to tourism. It also plans to gather input from residents and tourists to select approximately 20 strategic tourism courses.
A county official stated, "We will connect the region's unique cultural and natural resources to create a tourism city that people want to revisit," adding, "We will continue to develop effective tourism content that reflects feedback from the field."
