According to the county on June 16, this year’s festival featured a variety of programs that drew attention, ranging from hands-on mudflat experiences where visitors could dig for clams themselves, to tasting and sales booths for Pungcheon eel?a popular health food in the summer.
In particular, the "Slippery Pungcheon Eel Bare-Handed Catch" event became the most popular program, enjoyed by people of all ages. Other diverse events, such as a family-friendly sports day, the Mudflat Guardian Health Walk where visitors could appreciate the beauty of the Gochang mudflats, and a healing yoga session held at Baram Park, provided visitors with special memories.
Additionally, at the food corner operated mainly by the Mandol Women's Association, dishes made with fresh seafood unique to Gochang?such as shrimp tempura, seasoned cockles, and cockle bibimbap?received an enthusiastic response.
The festival committee made thorough preparations to create a comfortable festival environment, including securing parking spaces for more than 350 vehicles to ensure the safety and convenience of family visitors.
County Governor Shim Deokseop expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate the many people who visited the Gochang Mudflat Festival. We will continue to promote the beautiful mudflats and rich natural scenery of Gochang, and do our best to revitalize the local economy."
