Gyeonggi Province to Complete 'Air Conditioner Cleaning Support' for Energy-Vulnerable Groups by End of June

Gyeonggi Province will complete its air conditioner cleaning support for energy-vulnerable households by the end of this month.

On June 16, Gyeonggi Province announced that it would finish its air conditioner cleaning support project by the end of June. The project aims to reduce energy costs through air conditioner maintenance for elderly people living alone and low-income groups who have difficulty managing air conditioners.

This year, the project targets 1,420 households in energy-vulnerable groups, including elderly people living alone and low-income households who have difficulty managing air conditioners.

Gyeonggi Province expects that air conditioner maintenance and management will improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups and reduce energy costs by improving air circulation efficiency.

The household visited that day was the top-priority recipient of an air conditioner through the 2021 heatwave response energy welfare support project, and is home to an elderly person living alone with limited mobility.

Cha Seongsu, Director of the Climate, Environment and Energy Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "A well-maintained air conditioner greatly improves cooling efficiency and helps reduce energy bills," adding, "This project goes beyond simple cleaning and serves as a welfare policy to protect the health and safety of vulnerable groups."
